Paul Sneddon and the Oakville Group

Information and photos kindly submitted by Paul Sneddon,the organiser of the Oakville group.

"We originated 5 years ago at the Bush with a Toronto based group of 12 golfers which included an old soccer mate of mine who lives in Glasgow - Billy Milne.

Each year thereafter about half the group would return and slowly the mix became more international but as I am the organiser and live in Oakville ( just outside Toronto) we became known as the Oakville group.

Last year we had 3 guys from Pittsburgh USA 2 Irish and a Ayrshire man who now live in Oakville 3 Canadians who live in Toronto 1 Canadian who lives in Montreal Billy and me. - hence the Multi National term !

In 2003 we will have 12 again ( 6 from previous BB trips ) including 3 of my friends from the Bahamas.

We always do the same scene. Arrive the weekend before BB in Belfast play Royal County Down go for a curry in Belfast + a session. Pick up our own personal bus and driver ( no driving only drinking on tour !) drive up the coastal route to Portrush. Play practice rounds including Royal Portrush.

We all stay at Mary McAllisters hotel (Alexandra) which is staggering distance home from the Harbour Bar and Rogues Bar. Naturally Kelly's get's a Sat/Wed visit and we have a helluva time playing golf ,drinking and laughing non-stop for 8 days returning to Belfast on the Sat before flying home to wherever around the Globe !!

I have attached some photos reflecting some of this behaviour and as you can see we are also very cultured in our tendency to visit places of historical interest like The Bushmills Distillery and the infamous Crown !!"

The sign at the entrance of Castlerock golf club No dogs allowed? Well lads I suppose you are allowed to breach some local rules in the Black Bush week!
